For #StandingStoneSunday here's a particularly intriguing one, at Waun Mawn in the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire, which I visited last month. Recent studies seem to support the suggestion that stones now at Stonehenge were previously part of an earlier stone circle here, which was dismantled, transported to Salisbury Plain and reconstructed there. Russia: Krasheninnikov volcano is erupting in Kamchatka. Last eruption was 460 years ago.
There are now two volcanoes erupting on the peninsula where the 8.8 magnitude earthquake took place.

Fernacre Stone Circle, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, UK

Situated in the shadow of Rough Tor (Rough is pronounced "row" and even that switches between "row" your boat or "row" as in a fight).

A site made fictionally famous in The Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier.

This is a pen and ink watercolour I made of the site.

The terminal menhir (№ 3, B or N4) at the end of Stone Row (№ 3, B or N3) at Drizzlecombe on Dartmoor, Devon. Photographed from the north-east on 27 August 1994.

The Stane o' Quoybune on Birsay in Orkney. Probably erected in the later Neolithic, around 2000 BC, the stone is one of several solitary standing stones that can be found in Orkney. My own. #StandingStoneSunday #Prehistory #Archaeology #Orkney

It's a wonderful stone in a reallly good area for walking and looking at old stuff. My visit was nearly 10 years back, doesn't seem that long ago.

Some Monmouthshire chambered tomb action for today's #StandingStoneSunday

Gaer Llwyd ('Grey Fort') Neolithic chambered tomb near Usk. In folklore the tomb was the result of a game of megalithic quoits between Twm Sion Catti and the Devil.

Visited June 2012, when there was a donkey living in the field.

Another North-Walian obscurity for #StandingStoneSunday - Cwm Eigiau (possible) chambered tomb.

Speculatively identified as the remains of a Neolithic chambered tomb, nestled in Cwm Eigiau beneath the high ridges of Y Carneddau mountains.

Visited May 2012 on descent from Carnedd Llewelyn and Pen yr Helgi-Du.
