For #StandingStoneSunday here's a particularly intriguing one, at Waun Mawn in the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire, which I visited last month. Recent studies seem to support the suggestion that stones now at Stonehenge were previously part of an earlier stone circle here, which was dismantled, transported to Salisbury Plain and reconstructed there. Second photo showing me in front of the stone included for scale rather than vanity (I'm 1.81 m tall, or 5 ft 11 ins for anyone who still thinks in imperial units).

Fernacre Stone Circle, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, UK

Situated in the shadow of Rough Tor (Rough is pronounced "row" and even that switches between "row" your boat or "row" as in a fight).

A site made fictionally famous in The Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier.

This is a pen and ink watercolour I made of the site.

More of my art lives on my kofi page and my website. Donations welcome.

Close by, but only found after a long circular venture through prickly gorse & brambles (wearing shorts!), we visited the surprising Tregaseal Holed Stones (Cornwall 🇬🇧), along the Tinners’ Way, an old transport road. They have been re-erected within living memory & may not be in their original positions or even be now laid the correct way round. I would have laid them to be able to look through all 4 holes at once, but hey. Another fascinating ancient megalithic mystery. #StandingStoneSunday
