Open source is fundamental to society because "the source code of software used for the implementation of laws and regulations defines the experience of the law by citizens."

Hi @webmink

Welcome back on the #fediverse!

I'd say that #FreeSoftware is fundamental to society because it foster #curiosity and thus #knowledge: everything else is just a nice byproduct of these.

This #UNESCO call is a great news!

All software distributed with sources is declared equally important to humanity and IT IS!

Not just Free Software!
Not just Open Source.

All software distributed with source, whatever the license, is a #human heritage.

It's great!

But we still need more.

@Shamar One of the goals of the Paris Call was to establish some foundations for later work weaving open source free software into the fabric of UNESCO policy-making. So expect more.
