Another factor to consider is that the demographic of fediverse folks probably includes a higher proportion of non-normative views and lifestyles than you might find in the silos. These non-normative people are precisely the groups which the really bad guys always seek to target. So as maintainer you should be concerned with your user's interests and practice metadata minimization which can limit any potential damage.
I'm moving over there. That community seems to treat its members better.

While I don't agree with how some programmer handled a member earlier today, I thought about leaving then I considered just blocking that person. It's not like this site belongs to that person, in particular and it's not like my personal opinion of them will change anything. I like to consider this site as a hub of many ideas and people of different backgrounds and culture. Will stick around, but will try to avoid drama as much as I can. Hopefully this site will only get better in time. :sweat:
For anyone asking, I'm talking about Eugen. This sort of behavior is rude and not really professional from someone who claims to be a programmer for this sort of social network. For that reason, I no longer wish to remain on this website as I don't think we're safe with someone like him around.

INTRO TO FEDERATION:
1. "mastodon" is a piece of software that runs on a server. There's a lot of servers that run it & u can follow ppl on other servers.
2. When u follow someone from another server, your server receives their toots.
3. The federated TL is all public toots that the server receives, ie all of the toots from everyone that ppl on your server follow.
4. ERGO: if u want to see more toots in the fed TL, follow + get other ppl on your server to follow ppl from other servers!
Yeah, maybe I don't wanna join a social network developed by a guy who thinks it's cool to laugh at folks for getting shit wrong 😒

Just a tip. If you feel your feeds don't have that much stuff on, try refreshing the page manually. I think there's a bug on some browsers that don't soft-refresh our pages the way it should to.
