Friend just mentioned that his son's school was canceled today because of a local gin-violence-related incident near the school.

This is not normal.

This should not be the case where a gun violence incident is akin to a snow day. Imagine the conversation about why you're not going to school today. How do you explain this to a kid? How do you parse this as a kid?

This is not OK.
