Got my code to order a #Pinebook. Still a bit undecided as my experience with #Pine64 hasn't been stellar.

@lnxw48a1 It's been framed as an alternative to #RasPi but they really don't have the same kind of community. Tried a few distros on my one board but they're so unoptimized that a #RasPiZero on #Raspbian feels faster.
But a laptop form factor could work well for some of my #SonicPi projects.
@Enkerli I am debating the #pinebook too. Got my invitation to buy - shipping is close to $30US! And with only a 30 day warranty - I wonder how reliable the hardware will be. With the shipping added, you could get a decent #Chromebook on sale for a similar price. #linux #laptop #cheaptech
@johjeff Didn't even realize shipping wasn't included. Did notice the ridiculously short warranty. A #Chromebook might indeed make more sense, especially if you can untie it from Google accounts.
@Enkerli I've yet to boot my pine64 more than once, I should probably do something about that at some point.
@Enkerli what's the panel resolution on the pinebook's display, do you know offhand?
@djsundog Both models are 1366 x 768 (so, the bigger one has a lower resolution).
@Enkerli not fantastic, but for sub-$100 hard to complain much I suppose :)
@djsundog Precisely.
There’s also #nexdock, a similar project with a different board. http://ubuntupodcast.org/2016/12/01/s09e40-dirty-dans-dark-delight/
@djsundog It all depends on how much energy you want to spend on that. If you don't use it, it means you wanted a bit of money, but it's probably too late to send it back. If you invest more time and energy in it, you may find an appropriate use for it, which could be cool. But it may also be a #timesink.
My #RasPi is very different, in these terms. Already learnt a lot from it.
@Enkerli yeah, I've got a pile of pi in the lab, just haven't had enough time to put toward the project the pine64 is allocated for quite yet ;)
