@Enkerli I don't buy into the whole 440 Hz woo woo conspiracy theories, but I agree much of the Western music standards were created based on the technology available at the time. For example, it's impossible for a western piano to be in tune.

@postmodern Not sure about a conspiracy theory but there's documentation on the decision to settle on 440Hz. As for 12-TET, it's become so dominant that people assign everything else to . In terms of musical diversity, it's had a big but mostly unnoticed impact.
